NEW JERSEY - Finally, some sense from New Jersey's criminal-justice system. State Attorney General Anne Milgram last week ordered all local police jurisdictions to alert federal authorities when they believe any individual under arrest is an illegal immigrant. It sure is about time. Milgram started her review of police cooperation with federal authorities before the horrific triple homicide in Newark this month. But her order comes as the state is still reeling from revelations that at least two of the six suspects in the murders of the three college students in that incident were in the country illegally.
