MICHIGAN - With Oakland County's jail almost constantly facing emergency releases due to overcrowding, it is fair for County Executive L. Brooks Patterson to question the governor's plan to cut prison costs by reforming criminal statutes. Oakland County needs help from Lansing, not plans that further strain our systems. Perhaps advising everyone to buy an Uzi and guard dogs, as Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson did in a recent metro newspaper guest opinion, was a bit much, but Patterson is pointing out a flaw that could directly impact Oakland County residents' quality of life. Read more.
