SOUTH CAROLINA - A state Senate committee investigating allegations of abuse and mismanagement at the state Department of Corrections is asking the State Law Enforcement Division and the Legislative Audit Council to step in, to find out whether there's any criminal wrongdoing and to further investigate the workings of the agency. Committee staff had compiled a report of allegations made by current and former prison employees, as well as inmates and their families. That report was leaked to The State newspaper in Columbia.
