DES MOINES, IA - Polk County supervisors intend to vote on a plan to trim 31 employees from the still-under-construction county jail despite criticism from Des Moines police, who say new booking procedures could force the city to add six to 10 police officers at a cost of up to $915,000. County authorities say the switch is necessary to cut operating costs for the $68 million jail expected to open in late 2008.
