WEST VIRGINIA - Thomas McBride, the longest serving warden in the 12-year history of the Mount Olive Correctional Complex, West Virginia's maximum-security prison, is stepping down after six years on the job. He is answering the call of public service and plans to run for sheriff of Wayne County, he told WOWK-TV reporter Martin Staunton. WOWK-TV and The State Journal are part of the West Virginia Media group of companies. McBride's last day is Aug. 31, and the prison's new warden already has been named. David Ballard, warden at Lakin Correctional Center, will take over Sept. 1 at Mount Olive. |
