ALASKA – The Alaska Department of Corrections Training Academy is moving out of the shared space with the Anchorage Police Department’s training facility to a former hospital in Palmer. Currently, only two of the twelve state facilities and one of the thirteen field offices are within 50 miles of the police training facility. “By utilizing the state building in Palmer, our training center will by within 50 miles of five facilities and our two largest field offices,” Commissioner Joe Schmidt says. The state purchased the former Palmer Hospital to centralize all the criminal justice functions for Matanuska-Susitna Borough. |
