Authorities captured three teenagers Monday night about 2 hours after they escaped from the Elko County (Nev.) Juvenile Detention Center. The three boys overpowered two employees at the center at about 7:45 p.m. and forced them into a holding room, center chief Jim Watson said. The teens fled on foot and were on the run for a couple of hours before they were captured in a neighborhood on Elko's north side near the city golf course just before 10 p.m., he told KELK Radio. All three were back at the detention center Tuesday - a 14-year-old from Reno, a 17-year-old from Elko and another 17-year-old from Ely. The two female employees were not hurt. Watson said an investigation was under way to determine exactly how the youths managed to escape. He said existing security measures will be evaluated. |
