| Dept. may move to empty prison |

MISSOURI - The men and women who have kept Missouri's prisoners locked up soon may be based in one of the cellblocks that housed inmates for over a century. The state is discussing a plan that would move the headquarters of the Missouri Department of Corrections to the now-vacant old Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City. Office of Administration Commissioner Mike Keathley said the idea could involve converting Housing Unit 4, an 1868 cellblock, into offices, leaving stone walls and other historical features in place.
