KANSAS - Main Street will be closed off in front of the Sedgwick County Courthouse for several hours today as state and local officials mark Kansas Preparedness Day. Equipment and information booths will be set up along the street to educate people about how they can prepare their homes and families for a variety of disasters, including tornadoes, floods and terrorist attacks. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Main between Elm and Central. Water and snacks will be provided by the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to sign a proclamation this morning declaring September Kansas Preparedness Month. Check Kansas.com for updates. |
