| Delay prison, says DOC chief |

FLORIDA - The head of the state Department of Corrections proposed Thursday that construction of the Suwannee Correctional Institution be delayed for at least two years as part of a cost-saving measure to help make up a $1 billion state budget shortfall. The measure was not among budget-reduction proposals submitted by Gov. Charlie Crist on Friday to the legislature, however, and seems unlikely to gain traction in Tallahassee.
