| Prison to hold least dangerous criminals |

NEW HAMPSHIRE - Officials with the Department of Corrections have begun to implement a plan that will remove medium security inmates from the Lakes Region prison so that it serves purely as a "transitional" facility for minimum security inmates being readied for reintroduction into society. While some are expressing worry that the change could see violent offenders being sent to Laconia as they approach being released, prison officials say such individuals already exist at the prison and that the change is simply part of a plan aimed at getting lower security inmates acclimated to what life will be like on the outside.
