Administration imposes new contract

CALIFORNIA - The Schwarzenegger administration imposed a new contract on the union representing more than 30,000 state [corrections officers] Wednesday, hours after the union's leadership failed to extend its current work agreement through legislation.

The administration's final contract offer will send the bitter labor fight back to state lawmakers. By law, they will have to approve a contract projected to cost taxpayers $735 million over three years. Read more.
