FLORIDA - A longtime corrections officer at Tomoka Correctional Institution was killed instantly this morning in a three-car crash at International Speedway Boulevard and Indian Lake Road, officials said. Angel Laboy, 49, of DeLand who had been with the Florida Department of Corrections since 1991, was fatally injured in the 6:40 a.m. crash. Corrections officials in Tallahassee said they believe he was on his way to work at the prison when the crash occurred. Read more.
