MARYLAND - A state correction official says an officer at Jessup Correctional Institution has been stabbed by an inmate. Division of Correction spokeswoman Major Priscilla Doggett says when the inmate refused to comply with an order, an officer began to remove him from the area. That's when, she says, the inmate stabbed the officer in the torso and face with a homemade weapon. The officer was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where Doggett says he is listed in stable condition Thursday night. The institution has been locked down. Read more.
