| Counties hope consultants hold the key |

WASHINGTON STATE - Two Western Washington consultants have been hired to figure out how the newly expanded Coyote Ridge Corrections Center will affect public services in Connell and Franklin County. The city and county plan to pay two consultants $50,000 to interview agencies such as schools and police officials, said Connell City Administrator Art Tackett. That's because the committee disagrees with a 2005 Environmental Impact Statement done for the 2,048-bed expansion, said Franklin County Superior Court Judge Robert Swisher, a committee member. The environmental statement was based on historical data from when the prison was first built to house 600 minimum-security inmates, he said. Read more.
