| County jail construction continues |

MAINE - All three Somerset County commissioners came to Wednesday night’s meeting prepared to shut down construction of their $30 million jail, which is about one-third complete. But what Chairman Phil Roy called "a Hail Mary pass at the 11th and one half hour" changed their minds. After receiving a letter just hours before the meeting in which Gov. John Baldacci offered to discuss funding options, the commissioners unanimously voted to sit back down at the bargaining table. Read more.
