Pay boost sought for COs

ALABAMA - Two lawmakers have already introduced a bill for the 2008 legislative session that would increase the pay of officers and other employees at correctional facilities by 10 percent in hopes of boosting recruitment and retention.

State Sens. Pat Lindsey, D-Butler, and Arthur Orr, R-Decatur, prefiled the bill for the 2008 session, which begins in February. Gov. Bob Riley included the 10 percent raise in his Plan 2010, which he touted during his re-election campaign last year. Read more.
