| Prosecutor candidates vow to demand more jail space |

WASHINGTON STATE - The next King County prosecutor -- no matter who he is -- has already promised to demand that the county build a third jail or expand an existing one, which puts him at odds with County Executive Ron Sims. The county's jail system is approaching capacity. It is expected to run out of beds for county prisoners by 2018 even if it stops housing misdemeanor defendants for Seattle and suburban cities and parole-violating ex-convicts for the state. But Sims said that until the county completes a study of a variety of options, any decision about what to do is premature. Read more.
