WISCONSIN - Shipping Dane County inmates to other county jails will be drastically reduced next year under budget plans announced Tuesday by Sheriff Dave Mahoney and County Executive Kathleen Falk. Over 100 county inmates a day typically sleep in another county's jail every night, costing Dane County taxpayers about $3 million a year in housing, transportation and overtime costs. Read more.
