ILLINOIS - All that's left to do outside the new Kane County jail is cleanup and landscaping. Builders Monday put the last piece of precast concrete wall in place for the building's exterior, meaning the only construction work left on the building is inside. Officials from both Kane County and Mortenson Inc., of Elgin, the general contractor, held a "topping off" ceremony Monday afternoon to mark the milestone, saying it was full speed ahead to finishing the new jail as expected by next summer.
