| City considering bonds for prison expansion |

ALASKA - The Alaska Department of Corrections has revived a plan to expand prison space in Fairbanks and other communities by a combined 2,000 beds in the next five years. Corrections officials will visit Fairbanks this week to talk about the local piece of the plan, which would increase the number of beds at Fairbanks Correctional Center by 40 percent. Read more.
