| Sheriff identifies social security ineligible |

ILLINOIS - The Macon County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Social Security Administration, has been able to identify inmates in the Macon County Jail who are no longer eligible for social security benefits due to their incarceration. The County of Macon will receive a finder’s fee for identifying these inmates for the federal government. Most people who are incarcerated are not eligible for social security benefits, but previously there never was a system in place to identify these individuals. Read more.
