A Wisconsin man known as the Beauty Shop Bandit has been given a suspended sentence for failing to pay for massages, manicures and other spa treatments. Marshall G. Wolbers, 53, of Delevan, pleaded guilty to three charges of theft of services stemming from his visits to beauty shops in the Illinois towns of Algonquin and Lake of the Hills, The Arlington Heights Daily Herald reported Friday. Wolbers received, but never paid for, a haircut and dye job at one salon and a Swedish massage, sea salt body polish, a facial, body scrub and manicure at two others. He was given a suspended sentence of six months in jail plus 75 hours of public service and a $250 fine. In addition, Wolbers was ordered to donate $150 to Crimestoppers. Police said Wolbers used an alias to book spa treatments in McHenry and Lake counties and left without paying his bill by telling staffers he had to step outside to make a phone call. |
