| Pedophile's release near school concerns Public Safety Minister |

OTTOWA, CANADA - Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day says he's concerned about the release of a convicted pedophile to a halfway house next to an elementary school in Kingston, Ont. "I have expressed my concerns to the Commissioner of Corrections regarding the placement of Christopher Goodwin, and have asked for solutions to be found related to locating potentially dangerous offenders in facilities that are close to vulnerable populations," Day said in a statement Wednesday. However, he added that the Portsmouth Community Correctional Centre next to Polson Park Elementary school must stay open and at its current capacity until a replacement facility opens. Read more.
