| County hopes to recoup $1M loss |

WISCONSIN - Winnebago County hopes to house state or other out-of-county inmates to make up for losing $1 million in revenue as a result of a cancelled contract with Dane County. Dane County officials informed Winnebago County Sheriff Michael Brooks in September that they would not be renewing their contract with Winnebago County to house approximately 60 inmates at the Winnebago County Jail. During hearings on the county's 2008 budget this week, board supervisors were faced with determining how to make up for the $1 million in lost revenue. Read more.
