AUSTRALIA - Children are at increased risk of being sexually assaulted because of the State Government's failure to rehabilitate serious sex offenders, according to a report by Victoria's prisons watchdog. The Adult Parole Board has also criticised the Government for not doing enough to reduce the risk of drug-addicted offenders returning to crime after being released from prison. The board says Victorians should also be deeply concerned about the number of mentally ill and profoundly intellectually disabled people being imprisoned, and the limited resources available to house and support them when they are released.
