OKLAHOMA - Sheriff's officials from Okfuskee County are searching for two men who escaped from a minimum-security prison Tuesday morning. Billy Dale Mitchell and Scotty W. White apparently were present at the 6 a.m. count, officials with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections said. But when the 8 a.m. count came around, the two men could not be found. The men were still missing as of 6:30 p.m., according to prison officials. prison spokeswoman said she did not know how the men escaped, but she said multiple law enforcement agencies including the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Okfuskee County sheriff department and Okemah police are looking for them. Mitchell was in prison for forgery, embezzlement, drug possession and escape. He was scheduled for release in 5 years. White was serving an 18-year sentence for two counts of accessory after the fact. |
