SOUTH CAROLINA - A prisoner’s release date ought to be set the day of sentencing, S.C. Attorney General Henry McMaster says, and Tuesday he called on the state to abolish parole to make that happen. McMaster’s push to end parole could mean longer jail time for more than 12,000 S.C. inmates, who in 2003 exited the state prison system early for good behavior. Read more.
