CANADA - Halifax’s deputy police chief said Tuesday he’s willing to help re-examine the safety of stun guns such as Tasers, even though he worked on a national report last year that said the devices were safe and effective police tools. Deputy Chief Tony Burbridge of Halifax Regional Police worked with other police officers, medical specialists, mental health lobbyists and others as the Canadian Police Research Centre studied the use of the conductive energy devices. Tasers have come under heavy scrutiny since then, especially since last month when a man died after RCMP officers Tasered him at Vancouver International Airport.
