Independent reviews claimed more difficult

AUSTRALIA - The State Government has made it more difficult for independent observers to monitor what goes on in jails, lawyers claim.

"It's getting harder to get information about the way the prison system operates," said Hugh de Kretser, executive officer of the Federation of Community Legal Centres. "The Government, instead of increasing scrutiny, is going the other way," he said. Read more.
