LOUISIANA - Three local probation and parole districts have new officers following their graduation from a state Department of Public Safety and Corrections program. Marla Armstrong, James Burgos and Brandon Kirby will join the staff at the Shreveport office. Bobby Roton will be working in Minden and Patrick Reliford will work out of Natchitoches. "Agents provide both economic and public safety benefits by using community based programs designed to facilitate the offender's adjustment and reintegration into society," said Genie Powers, director of the state department's Probation and Parole Division, in a prepared statement. "If supervised ex-offenders follow the rules, the public is safer and the state saves money that would have otherwise gone to incarceration costs." Read more.
