OKLAHOMA - Attorney General Drew Edmondson's office says a program designed to help state prison inmates re-enter society with the help of faith-based or community groups does not pre-empt the authority of the Board of Corrections to set corrections policy. The program was 1 of Republican House Speaker Lance Cargill's top priorities during the 2007 Oklahoma Legislature. It will support the work of the Department of Corrections by coordinating re-entry programs for inmates and seeking partnerships with faith-based and community groups, according to a legal opinion from Edmondson's office.
