CONNECTICUT - In an ironic twist, a prominent Democratic lawmaker who has opposed new prisons in the past is now saying the state may need two of them — and lock-up-the-bad-guys Republicans are resisting. More cells will be necessary if the Department of Correction continues to cram nearly 20,000 inmates into prisons built to house 17,000.
