KANSAS - By the first of the year, employees at Johnson County corrections facilities will don black paramilitary uniforms to reinforce a new way of doing business. “It became clear to me from the beginning of my employment that the Department of Corrections has not been operating in a unified manner,” said director Betsy Gillespie, who took the job in April after longtime director Michael Youngken left for unspecified reasons.
