Noon alarms to become regular feature

PENNSYLVANIA - On Monday at noon, when an alarm whistle begins blaring from the State Correctional Institution at Rockview, prison officials want to make sure the local community doesn’t panic. No one will have escaped. For the first time in memory, Rockview will begin testing its emergency siren every day at noon, joining other state correctional institutions that also have been mandated by the Pennsylvania secretary of corrections to perform daily tests.

“We want to assure the public that we are committed to public safety and are taking all necessary steps to alert them in the event of an emergency,” said Rockview Superintendent Frank Tennis. Read more.
