State sees danger in housing policy

WISCONSIN - Municipal ordinances that limit where registered sex offenders live drive offenders underground and make it more difficult for probation and parole officers to monitor them, a state corrections official says.

Joe Pontillo, supervisor of the state Division of Probation and Parole office in Appleton, spoke Tuesday at a Fox Valley Chamber of Commerce Leadership Fox Cities class about difficulties in tracking sex offenders that have been exacerbated by local attempts to limit where they can live.
