INDIANA - Registered sex offenders will have to pay an annual fee starting in January, now that Grant County Commissioners established a new ordinance. Each sex offender will have to pay $50 a year, plus $5 for each time they change an address. Det. Moore said 10 percent of the money generated would go to the Indiana Department of Corrections, because of a state law that was recently passed that allows county government to collect fees from offenders. The rest would be put in a fund to pay for the new Offender Watch tracking software for sex offenders and other programs related to fighting sex crimes. Read more.
