| Prison closings possible to save money |

VERMONT - The Vermont Department of Corrections is considering closing one of the state's prisons. That's part of an effort to pare four million dollars from next year's budget. Corrections Commissioner Rob Hofmann says his staff has assembled a range of options to come up with the savings. Even if the savings can be found, it won't be a budget cut. Instead, it would just slow the rate of growth in the department. The Corrections budget has increased by more than ten percent a year in recent years. Read more.
