CONNECTICUT - A corrections officer at York Correctional Institution in Niantic was assaulted Thursday afternoon, according to union officials. Luke Leone, a Corrigan correction officer who serves as president of Local 1565 of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, said the female corrections officer entered the cell of an inmate living in a mental health housing at about noon to conduct a strip search.
