MICHIGAN - The Michigan State Police agency reports that it arrested 137 fugitives across the state during its latest sweep Dec. 4 through 6, which it calls Project SAFE (Statewide Apprehension of Fugitives Effort) Street. A news release from the agency doesn’t specify where the arrests were made but said that, of those arrested, 83 were parole violators, 18 were "parole absconders" and one was a probation violator. Others were arrested for a range of offenses, from armed robbery to criminal sexual assault to domestic violence. State police and the state Department of Corrections received help in the sweep from 24 county sheriff’s departments, 27 local police departments, the U.S. Marshals Service and a law enforcement agency in Kentucky. |
