| Bill would allow COs to carry guns |

NEW JERSEY - The Senate Law and Public Safety Committee released legislation Monday Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew sponsored to give county corrections officers the authority to carry firearms at all times while in New Jersey. "More than any other branch of law enforcement, these men and women are constantly exposed to the criminal element," said Van Drew (D-Cape May). "Should a situation ever arise, corrections officers need to have the means to properly and effectively defend themselves." Read more.
