ILLINOIS - Federal prosecutors say a former Illinois Corrections Department director who was charged with accepting $50,000 in kickbacks from lobbyists has reached a plea agreement. Donald Snyder of Pittsfield served as corrections director from 1999 to early 2003 after being appointed to the post by former Governor George Ryan. Federal prosecutors say the lobbyists represented vendors who had contracts with the Corrections Department. Two lobbyists accused of paying the kickbacks also have been indicted. Read more.
