Pickets support prison staff facing charges

KITCHENER, ONTARIO, CANADA - [COs] from 58 federal prisons across Canada protested yesterday in a show of solidarity with three colleagues charged in the death of an inmate. About 30 members of the Union of Canadian Correctional Officers stood at the entrance of the Grand Valley Institution for Women, holding signs and displaying T-shirts calling for "truth."

"The message here is the entire country is behind these members," said the union's Ontario region president, Jason Godin. "These are members of the community protecting the community." Read more.
