| Juvenile superintendent retires |

SOUTH DAKOTA - The superintendent of juvenile corrections programs for the state has retired, the Department of Corrections said Wednesday. Chuck Gilson, superintendent for the past three years of the DOC's juvenile programs in Custer, retired Dec. 21. He joined the DOC in 1994 after more than 20 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the adult prisons, including a stint as associate warden at Mike Durfee State Prison in Springfield before taking over the programs at the State Treatment and Rehabilitation Academy near Custer.
