| Facility for young offenders nears closing |

FLORIDA - The Polk Juvenile Correctional Facility in Polk City will close by the end of January as part of a move to put young offenders in smaller facilities closer to home. "Our reasons for closing it are because the Legislature directed us to," said Rex Uberman, the Department of Juvenile Justice's assistant secretary for residential facilities.
