CALIFORNIA - The El Paso de Robles Youth Correctional Facility is shutting down. Starting July, there will be no more funding coming in. The facility is located at 4545 Airport Road in Paso Robles. The shutdown had been rumored for some time, but in a town hall meeting held Thursday afternoon, it was finally confirmed. The remote location and a dwindling inmate population is what is forcing it to close its doors. The future of the near 350 employees at El Paso de Robles is still uncertain. A Department of Corrections spokesman says they will help in transferring employees, possibly to other youth systems or nearby adult facilities. Read more.
