LOUSIANA - Public versus private may be the dilemma two northwest Louisiana sheriffs face this year when it comes to a decision on plans for new corrections facilities. DeSoto Sheriff Rodney Arbuckle hopes to have enough information by July 1 on whether to proceed with construction of a new jail paid for with his own dime or whether to defer the building project and subsequent operations to a private company, which already has made inquiries.
