| Security worry leads to Oakdale improvements |

IOWA - Officials are beefing up security at the state prison in Oakdale near Iowa City. According to The Des Moines Register, security worries have prompted officials to spend $2 million to install new high-tech fences and outdoor lighting to prevent escapes. The old fence was damaged during a winter storm last February. Deputy Corrections Director Larry Brimeyer told the Iowa Board of Corrections last week that construction a new double-barrier fence should be completed by spring or early summer. Read more.
