The writ was issued in connection to the December 22 walkout of convicted rapist Romeo Jalosjos from the national penitentiary in Muntinlupa City. The subpoena compelled NBP Supt. Juanito Leopando, Teodora Diaz, administrator of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), and prison guard Godofredo Ocon to appear before a panel of investigators on Tuesday at the DoJ compound in Padre Faura Street in Ermita, Manila. DoJ Undersecretary Fidel Exconde, who signed the subpoena said the appearance of the three in the hearing was related to the “release order issued to inmate Romeo Jalosjos, the precipitate and unauthorized disclosure to the media about the order, and the escape of Jalosjos from the NBP… to Dapitan City, in connection with the formal investigation relative to the controversy/case."
