NEVADA - The American Civil Liberties Union today proposed to Nevada government officials, including Governor Jim Gibbons and Corrections Director Howard Skolnik, a series of basic reforms to dramatically improve prison health care at Ely State Prison (ESP). Following a damning report by a medical expert hired by the ACLU, the ACLU is recommending that the Nevada Department of Corrections (NDOC) comply with the nationally recognized medical standards established by the National Commission on Correctional Healthcare (NCCHC).
